At Revive RX Med Spa, the best fillers for you may not be the best options for a friend, colleague, or family member. Truly, everybody is different. For this reason, our team in Kansas City, Missouri, is pleased to offer products from leading brands like Revanesse® and Restylane®. The type of product used for lip injections or filler is just one of four factors that can influence how long your treatment results will last.
Most commonly, fillers formulated with Hyaluronic Acid are used for the lips and perioral region (to soften lip/smoker’s lines). These HA-based fillers generally get results for around six to 12 months before they wear off and more filler or a “touch-up” is needed. For example, we use the Restylane® line, which includes Silk and Kysse. The former Silk option is made with smaller molecules. So, it’s known to get a more subtle result. However, it lasts for around six months compared to its Kysse counterpart, which is made with larger particles to create a firmer gel that lasts up to a year. We also offer Revanesse® Lips™+. Prollenium Medical Technologies’ makers report that 65% of patients in studies still rated their lips as “much improved” or “very much improved” six months after injection.
How your body metabolizes fillers and other injectable products can vary significantly from how other patients metabolize or process the same product. The metabolic rate can substantially affect how fast the filler gets broken down and absorbed by the body. As the active ingredients are absorbed, you notice the results fade. Our patients with a higher metabolic rate may find that their fillers degrade quicker than those with lower metabolisms.
Your metabolism is influenced by so many things aside from age and DNA that can be controlled. These factors include your diet or nutrition, the type as well as frequency and intensity of physical activity/exercise, and habits such as smoking/vaping and alcohol use. We would never dissuade anyone from engaging in such healthy activities when there are so many benefits that outweigh any concerns over the impact of metabolism on the” durability” or sustainability of fillers. Many factors fuel a healthy body and also fuel healthy skin. By maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you can do your part to slow the effects of aging, as habits like smoking take a toll on your internal organs and skin, too, and may have contributed to your developing lip lines in the first place (how you move your face plays a role in the development of wrinkles and can affect results).
Be good to your skin! Yes, lips can appear deflated, less defined, and wrinkled with the simple passage of time. However, UV exposure and sun damage only hasten the breakdown of vital structural components in our skin, like collagen and elastin. Our team in Kansas City, MO, provides tailored recommendations for skincare that help your treated lips to look better for longer. Our experts have been partnering with patients on ways to keep or restore their healthy, beautiful skin for more than 33 years.
During a consultation, we’re happy to discuss these and other considerations associated with fillers, including lip injections. Contact our Revive RX Med Spa team today at (816) 208-4330 to schedule your one-on-one visit. Virtual consultations are also available for your convenience.
