How do these treatments work to relax wrinkles?
Dysport®, Botox®, and even newer treatments like Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify® all belong to a category of injectable procedures called neuromodulators. While that sounds like a mouthful, it simply refers to how the active ingredients in these products “modulate” the nerves responsible for muscle movements. By interfering with the process that leads to treated muscles contracting, your face stays nice and smooth. The muscle remains at rest, as does the overlying tissue.
How do you apply Dysport®?
Dysport® and other similar products are applied as “injectables.” We use very thin needles and a gentle yet precise hand to introduce the right amount of the solution to the right muscles.
What muscles can be treated?
Dysport® is generally indicated for use on the vertical frown lines between your eyebrows. These lines are caused by repeated facial movements or facial expressions. That’s why they are called “frown lines” due to their association with frowning. Dysport® has also been used safely and effectively to smooth forehead lines and crow’s feet caused by other facial movements, like squinting or expressing worry, anger, or surprise. In youthful and elastic skin, these creases are only noticeable when the expression is being made. They can persist as skin ages and lose its ability to bounce back or retain shape after movement.
