When they first appeared, dermal fillers were not as advanced as they are today. Since then, researchers have created specialized fillers with cutting-edge technology and long-lasting, beautifully natural results.
Some of the best dermal fillers are from the Restylane line, which we administer at ReVive RX Med Spa.
Restylane is a family of dermal filler products approved by the FDA to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. The Restylane line includes two fillers that are indicated for use as lip fillers, as well as one that is approved to treat the hands as well as the face.
More than 40 million treatments with Restylane fillers have been performed around the globe to date.
While many attributes contribute to Restylane’s popularity, one of the standout features is the addition of XpresHAn Technology. This technology allows the product to move along with a person’s facial expressions without compromising the restored definition and shape of the face.
The Restylane line is the only one with this technology, which frees dynamic expressions and restores natural facial contours. Restylane fillers also include hyaluronic acid, a natural substance the body produces that helps maintain a youthful appearance.
As a person ages, their body produces less hyaluronic acid, which contributes to an increase in fine lines, wrinkles, and creases. Restylane fillers replenish that supply of hyaluronic acid, supporting a youthful appearance that makes the natural beauty of skin really shine.
The full line of Restylane products is indicated for people who are over the age of 21:
Restylane Lyft, Restylane Contour, and other products in this family of dermal fillers are designed to simulate the body’s own hyaluronic acid, so they are generally very well-tolerated.
In addition, Restylane, Restylane Silk, and Restylane Lyft also use NASHA technology. This technology enables the products to be administered using different-sized particles for a customized treatment:
Each member of the Restylane family is approved and indicated for different specific treatment areas:
Restylane Kysse is indicated for augmenting the lips and for correcting upper perioral wrinkles, which are sometimes called barcode wrinkles. These are the small vertical folds that can appear around the mouth.
Restylane Silk is indicated for the same uses and treatment area as Kysse — the perioral area, which is found around the mouth. It’s also approved for lip augmentation as a lip filler. Silk uses smaller, smoother hyaluronic particles for a more subtle lip enhancement.
Restylane Lyft is used to address facial folds and wrinkles classified as moderate to severe. Designed for deep injection into facial tissue, Lyft is an effective choice for treating nasolabial folds as well as for cheek augmentation. Nasolabial folds are the creases that extend from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth.
Lyft is also a premium choice for correcting age-related contour deficiencies in the middle of the face and can be used in the hands to correct loss of volume.
Restylane and Restylane-L are formulated for treating facial tissue at a mid to deep injection level, making them suitable for treating moderate to severe facial folds and wrinkles. Both are also used as lip fillers.
Refyne is also injected into mid to deep tissue to correct moderate or severe facial wrinkles, including nasolabial folds. Unlike Restylane and Restylane-L, however, it is not used for lip augmentation.
Defyne is approved for the same uses as Refyne, and it’s also used as an injectable treatment in the mid to deep dermis for chin augmentation. This filler is often recommended to improve chin profiles in patients with chin retrusion.
Restylane Contour is indicated for cheek augmentation. It’s also used to correct contour deficiencies in the midface region.
Treatments average less than an hour, depending on the type of product being used and how many areas are being treated. There is little or no downtime required after treatment, so you can go back to your normal day.
When you come in for your appointment, we’ll take you back and make sure you’re comfortable. After thoroughly cleansing the area that will be treated, we will carefully inject the clear Restylane gel into the appropriate area to achieve the results you’re looking for.
Results are long-lasting but can vary depending on many factors. Typical results from treatment are as follows:
Since Restylane fillers contain hyaluronic acid to plump the skin, you will notice some increase in volume soon after your session, and these effects will develop further with time. You can expect to see the final results in about four to six weeks.
